A gunman has killed one person and injured three others at a Fresno, Calif. chicken processing plant, according to a number of news reports.

Police say the shooter then shot himself near scene. According to the FresnoBee.com, the gunman, identified as Lawrence Jones, 42, of Fresno and two of his co-workers he shot were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

KMPH-TV reports the rampage took place about 8:30 a.m. at Valley Protein, which produces various poultry meat products.

Fresno police told KMPH that the suspect walked into the business looking for a specific person. Reporter Liz Gonzalez says as many as 60 workers may have been inside at the time of the shooting, according to KMPH.

FresnoBee.com spoke to two witness who saw factory workers running from the plant. Roger Medina told the newspaper that he was in a nearby McDonald's when a man dressed in a meat cutter vest came rushing in.

"He said, 'There's a guy shooting people over there,' " said

Jesus Davila was at a bus stop when a factory employee ran up and yelled that a gunman was on the loose, according to the newspaper. Davila said he then heard a loud gunshot and saw the apparent gunman.

Davila told the Fresno Bee that said the meat factory worker told him that the gunman had just got out of jail.
